Earnings week: SpaceX reports Tuesday, Tesla on Wednesday
SpaceX said Oct 16 it will post Q3 financial and operational results after market close on Tuesday, Oct 20, with a live audio-only webcast at 3:30 PM CT and investor questions taken in advance. Evercore ISI's preview, reported the same day, expects about 2.3 GW of compute capacity by the end of 2026 (above consensus), an annualized revenue run rate near $104B exiting 2026 driven mostly by compute deals, and new compute deal announcements around the report. The Q2 baseline to compare against: Starlink earned $1.7B operating income on $4.3B revenue, while the AI segment made $2.56B and lost money. Google's $920M-a-month rental starts in October, so it lands in Q4, not Q3. Tesla follows Wednesday, Oct 21, with its call at 4:30 PM CT. Still unknown: whether AI margins turn positive and whether new compute customers get named.

Slovakia clears supervised FSD, and Austin Robotaxi rides reportedly run to midnight
On Oct 16 Slovakia's Ministry of Transport recognized the Dutch RDW approval of Tesla FSD (Supervised), making it the ninth EU country by TeslaNorth's count. Transport Minister Jozef Ráž stressed the driver stays fully responsible. Tesla Europe posted "Rollout begins soon," with no date or list of eligible cars. Separately, Reported: late Oct 16, Austin riders got an app alert that Robotaxi rides "now available until midnight," up from the 11 PM cutoff set Oct 3; Tesla has not announced it. Still unknown: the Slovak rollout date, and how close Robotaxi is to 24/7 service.

Grok Bot gets 3x faster on computer tasks; Musk pushes a business Hagglebot
On Oct 16 Grok Bot's official account said computer tasks now finish 3x sooner on average and replies to everything else arrive in less than half the time, with faster, more reliable voice calls and a refreshed design. Musk wrote that SpaceX is putting "a lot of effort into a specialized Hagglebot for business use," saying it could improve enterprise cost-efficiency by "5% or more." He also urged users to connect Grok Bot to their X DMs. Still unknown: paying-user numbers, which are not public.

Musk: X will bar advertisers whose ads are "ugly, shrill, strident"
On Oct 16 Musk posted that "all advertising on X will be subject to a reasonable esthetic standard," and that advertisers whose ads are "ugly, shrill, strident or overstate claims about their product will be barred from advertising." He asked users to report ugly or misleading ads to @Ads. Better-looking ads could lift engagement and win back brand advertisers, but barring some advertisers could also cut volume in the short run; X ads were $367M in Q2. Still unknown: the criteria, who decides, and when enforcement starts.

Southwest commits its whole fleet to Starlink by fall 2027
Southwest Airlines said Oct 15 it will bring Starlink to its entire fleet and expects in fall 2027 to become the first major US airline to finish a fleetwide rollout. Wi-Fi is free to Rapid Rewards members. Southwest put its first Starlink jet in service in June and targets 300-plus aircraft by the end of 2026, out of an all-737 fleet of more than 800. Musk wrote "Southwest Airlines going all-in with Starlink!" Still unknown: the deal's value and what Southwest pays per plane.

TSMC confirms Terafab talks, but says it would have to run the fab
On its Oct 15 Q3 call, TSMC CEO C.C. Wei said TSMC sent teams to evaluate Texas and is talking with "one of our customers who try to build a fab, Terafab" about using that capacity. "We are still in discussion," he said, "but the fab got to be run by TSMC." That differs from Musk's Oct 7 plan for Tesla and SpaceX to build and run Terafab themselves, with Intel as the named process partner. Still unknown: whether any deal gets signed, and who would own and operate the plant.

Starlink tells India it is ready; Musk thanks Reliance
On Oct 16 Starlink answered Reliance's statement welcoming competition: it said it has worked with Indian regulators for 5+ years and built dedicated systems, gateways and other infrastructure in-country to serve only Indian traffic, "all with the requisite government" approvals, and is ready to connect India. Musk replied to Reliance: "Much appreciated." The tone has cooled after last week's dispute, but India's government says Starlink, Jio Satcom and Eutelsat OneWeb are at broadly the same stage, waiting on security clearance and spectrum. Still unknown: a clearance date.

Texas had weighed selling Boca Chica State Park to SpaceX; the item is off the November agenda
Texas Monthly reported Oct 16 that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission had been discussing selling 1,300 acres in Cameron County, which two sources said is the beachfront Boca Chica State Park surrounding Starbase, with SpaceX as the prospective buyer. A draft agenda put it in a closed session on Nov 5. After Texas Monthly asked, a spokesperson said the commission "is not considering the sale of the Boca Chica property at its November meeting"; sources said it could come up later. Still unknown: whether SpaceX made an offer, and what Starbase would do with the land.
