Musk's 10 spokes, tracked daily.

SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, Super Intelligence and more: what changed today, why it matters, and the source. Plain English, no hype.

The wheel

Ten spokes, ranked by importance

A spoke is a product, platform or bet that makes the others stronger. Tap a spoke to see what it is. Starship is #1 because it lifts everything else. Ten spokes are the big things. The board's goals are the key bets we score, and they change as the picture changes.

SPOKE 1 OF 10

Starship

What it is
SpaceX's fully reusable super-heavy rocket, the biggest ever flown.
Why it matters
If it flies cheaply and often, it sets the cost of getting everything else on the wheel to orbit.
What to watch
Test-flight cadence, booster and ship catches, orbital refueling.
SPOKE 2 OF 10

Starlink

What it is
SpaceX's satellite internet constellation, thousands of satellites in low orbit.
Why it matters
It's SpaceX's main profit source: $2.37B operating income on $5.25B revenue in Q3 2026, with 13.6M subscribers. On revenue, SpaceX's Super Intelligence segment ($7.56B) passed it in Q3. It connects people, ships, planes and cars.
What to watch
Subscriber growth, direct-to-cell service, next-gen satellites launched on Starship.

SPOKE 3 OF 10

Super Intelligence

What it is
The AI models, and the data centers on the ground that train and run them. SpaceX and Tesla are both building them. SpaceX Super Intelligence (formerly xAI, part of $SPCX) makes Grok and runs the Colossus clusters in Memphis. Tesla also uses the term Super Intelligence (SI) and trains on its Cortex 1 and Cortex 2 clusters in Texas.
Why it matters
AI is the shared brain the other spokes plug into: cars, robots, X and more. In Q3 2026 it was SpaceX's largest segment by revenue ($7.56B, $431M operating income). Tesla says it plans 400 MW of SI training compute by year-end 2026.
What to watch
New Grok model releases, Colossus and Cortex build-outs, deals with the other spokes. Compute in orbit is tracked under spoke 10, Starmind.

SPOKE 4 OF 10

FSD + Robotaxi

What it is
Tesla's Full Self-Driving software and its driverless ride-hailing service.
Why it matters
If cars can drive themselves, every Tesla becomes a potential earning asset.
What to watch
Safety data, new cities, rides without a safety monitor, regulatory approvals.
SPOKE 5 OF 10

Optimus

What it is
Tesla's humanoid robot, built to do repetitive physical work.
Why it matters
Musk has said it could become Tesla's most valuable product ever.
What to watch
Robots doing real work in factories, production volume, hand dexterity demos.
SPOKE 6 OF 10

Tesla Energy

What it is
Tesla's battery business: Megapack for the grid, Powerwall for homes.
Why it matters
Grid storage is a big Tesla bet. Q3 2026 deployments were 13.7 GWh, below the roughly 15.9 GWh analysts expected (Tesla, Electrek, Oct 2).
What to watch
Quarterly deployments in GWh, new Megafactory output, data-center deals.
SPOKE 7 OF 10

Terafab

What it is
A planned chip fab for Tesla and SpaceX: chips made in Texas.
Why it matters
Every other spoke runs on chips; making its own would remove a big bottleneck.
What to watch
Musk's stated targets (Oct 20, 2026): equipment commissioning in the first half of 2027, a first test chip around May or June 2027, volume production in Q3 or Q4 2028, with "big error bars." Tesla's capex plan includes building a semiconductor fab. Musk said Terafab needs at least tens of billions in equipment through early 2028; Tesla and SpaceX have not yet agreed who pays for what.

SPOKE 8 OF 10

Tesla Vehicles

What it is
Tesla's cars and trucks: Model 3, Y, S, X, Cybertruck, Semi.
Why it matters
The fleet on the road is the data and revenue base for FSD and Robotaxi.
What to watch
Quarterly deliveries, new or cheaper models, Semi production ramp.
SPOKE 9 OF 10

X

What it is
The social network formerly called Twitter, now part of SpaceX alongside Grok.
Why it matters
It's the global town square and a real-time data feed for Grok.
What to watch
Usage, payments features, how tightly it ties into Grok.
SPOKE 10 OF 10

Starmind

What it is
AI compute in orbit: the idea of running AI data centers in space.
Why it matters
Solar power and launch on Starship could make space a place to run big AI.
What to watch
Concrete plans, first test hardware, launch dates. Very early stage.
