American goes all-in on Starlink. Grok rides in every robotaxi.

American Airlines will put Starlink on all 1,030+ of its mainline jets, and KLM and Royal Air Maroc signed on too. Tesla switched Grok on across its robotaxi fleet, while Musk's fight over Starlink in India got louder.

The daily context behind $TSLA and $SPCX, in plain English.

American Airlines will put Starlink on every mainline jet

On Oct 8 American said it will install Starlink across its entire mainline fleet, more than 1,030 Airbus and Boeing jets including widebodies, starting in early 2027. That expands its May plan for 500+ Airbus planes. The same week KLM said it will offer free Starlink Wi-Fi on long-haul flights from mid-2027, and Royal Air Maroc said it will equip 41 planes from early 2027. Still unknown: what the airlines pay and when installs finish. It is a strong answer to Delta picking Amazon Leo.

Scorecard change: Autonomy is now two separate bets

The Goals scorecard now tracks Autonomy as two bets: Robotaxi (08), driverless rides at scale, and Optimus (09), robots doing real work. Each is scored on its own evidence.

Grok now rides in every Tesla robotaxi

Over the weekend Tesla AI engineer Yun-Ta Tsai wrote that "Grok @bot is enabled on all Cybercabs and the rest of the Model Y fleet." Riders sign in once and can have Grok's agent order food, shop or send email by voice during the trip, and the session logs out when they get out. Tesla has not published release notes. Not yet clear: whether owners' cars are next, and whether it adds paying Grok subscribers. It puts SpaceX's AI product in front of every robotaxi rider.

Musk's fight over Starlink in India gets louder

On Oct 9 Musk addressed Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani as "Prime Minister Ambani" and asked whether he would "consider allowing Starlink to compete." On Oct 11 he added that if Starlink is too expensive in India "no one will buy it, so SpaceX will need to make pricing affordable." India's government says Starlink, Jio Satcom and Eutelsat OneWeb are all licensed and all still waiting on security clearance, and calls claims of unfair treatment baseless. Starlink says its 20 Indian gateway sites are already built. Unknown: whether the public fight speeds up or slows down the clearance.

Starship: Ship 40 is home and Ship 42 is back in testing

Ship 40, the upper stage that survived its Flight 13 splashdown in July, reached the Port of Brownsville on Oct 7 after 75 days at sea and was set to roll back to the Starbase factory for inspection. Ship 42, slated for Flight 15, went back for more cryogenic pressure testing. In a note shared Oct 11, Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas called Flight 15 "SpaceX's biggest test towards Starship reusability since the IPO," with Flight 16 targeted before year-end. SpaceX has not given a launch date; the FAA schedule says no earlier than Nov 8.

Google's orbital chips run in 15-minute bursts

Fortune reported on Oct 10 that Google's Suncatcher prototype, in orbit since Oct 1, runs its four chips about 15 minutes at a time before shutting down to cool, citing NPR. Google's research chief James Manyika told the New York Times to expect something like Google's 15 years of research "before anything showed up." Blue Origin has also filed for a 51,600-satellite network called Project Sunrise. Google is first with hardware in orbit, but by its own account it is not close to a business. SpaceX says the first Starmind satellites launch next year.

Starlink phone service reaches South Asia

Banglalink switched on Starlink-powered satellite-to-phone service in Bangladesh on Oct 7, the first in South Asia. Ordinary 4G phones with a Banglalink SIM get messaging, essential apps and location outside normal coverage. It follows launches with Beeline in Kazakhstan (Sep 28) and CNT in Ecuador (Sep 29). These are partner deals, not Starlink's own carrier plan, and what partners pay is not public.

Fact check: Tesla's Q3 storage was 13.7 GWh, not a record

An article shared widely on Oct 10 said Tesla deployed a "record 15.9 GWh" of storage in Q3. Tesla's own Oct 2 filing says 13.7 GWh, below the roughly 15.9 GWh analysts expected. The full energy picture, including margins, comes with Q3 results on Oct 21.
