Tesla gives its first official Cybercab number: "300+ Cybercabs serving Austin," and names Dallas as next
Why it mattersUntil now the board only had registry counts and drone estimates. On Oct 10, two years after the Cybercab unveil, Tesla's Robotaxi account said the service had "scaled to 300+ Cybercabs serving Austin, an 8x increase in 30 days." Tesla AI software head Ashok Elluswamy added "Dallas soon," the first time Tesla has named the next Cybercab city. No date, fleet size, or service area for Dallas, and Tesla did not say how many of the 300 carry riders at once, whether any still have monitors, or how many rides they give. Small Helps for Gate D (Tesla is starting to publish fleet numbers) and for Gate B (more cheap cars in paid service). Gate A and Gate C unchanged.
StarshipContextOct 10 · Musk at X Takeover (TeslaNorth; interview transcript)
Musk: Flight 15 "hopefully in 4-6 weeks," a little before Thanksgiving, and it will try to catch the ship
Why it mattersSpeaking by video at the X Takeover fan event at Giga Texas, Musk said Flight 14's engine problem traced to engine computer software and should be easy to fix, and the heat shield held up. A successful catch on Flight 15 would be the first full recovery of an orbital-class rocket, and he hopes Flight 16 reflies that booster and ship. Four to six weeks from Oct 10 is roughly Nov 7 to Nov 21, which fits the Nov 8 planning date at the early end. A ship catch on Flight 15 was already the plan; what is new is his timing. SpaceX has not set a date. Context, Gate A unchanged until it flies.

Musk on Terafab: logic, memory, packaging, and masks in one building, aiming for ten chip designs a year
Why it mattersIn the same interview Musk said the plan is to start with standard equipment from the usual vendors, run it faster, then build Tesla's own tools, and to iterate at about ten chip designs a year instead of one major design every two years. He also said he has no chip-making experience and expects to figure it out the way Tesla and SpaceX did. That is a statement of approach, not a partner deal, capacity number, or date. Gate D unchanged.

Pilot and Tesla open their first two Semi Megacharger truck stops, in Georgia and California
Why it mattersThe first Pilot site opened Oct 8 in Ellabell, Georgia, near Savannah, with six stalls, and a Flying J in Tulare, California, opened Oct 9. Fort Stockton, Texas, and North Las Vegas are next, with nine more under construction; each site gets four to eight stalls at up to 1.2 MW. Charging at truck stops truckers already use matters for Semi sales, but there are still no Semi delivery numbers. Context for Gate G, no gate moved.
Nothing material new for:Starmind (commentary only) or Optimus (Musk said Oct 10 the robot hand is "shockingly difficult" and production will start slow because there is no existing humanoid supply chain; restates known bottlenecks). Markets were closed for the weekend; last closes were SPCX $162.57 and TSLA $382.70 on Friday, Oct 9. (Robinhood market data)

Tesla finally put a number on Cybercab. Now the question is what it counts.
For a month the only Cybercab counts came from a state registry and drone flyovers. On Saturday Tesla gave its own: more than 300 serving Austin. That is real progress on disclosure, and it raises the next question the board cares about, which is rides, not cars.
What it is
FactTesla's Robotaxi account posted Oct 10: "One month after launch, we've scaled to 300+ Cybercabs serving Austin, an 8x increase in 30 days." It is the first official Cybercab fleet number. (Robotaxi on X via Teslarati, Oct 11)
FactAshok Elluswamy, Tesla's VP of AI software, quoted it: "Two years since the 10/10 Cybercab WeRobot event, the cabs are everywhere in Austin now. Dallas soon." No date, area, or fleet size for Dallas. (Electric-Vehicles.com; Cybercab Collective, Oct 10)
FactTexas lists 319 registered Cybercabs after 150 were added Oct 8, plus 420 Model Y robotaxis. Dallas has had driverless Model Y rides since April, and gold Cybercabs are staged at the Dallas hub. (TeslaNorth, Oct 8 to 9)
FactMusk said Oct 10 the rollout looks slow because Tesla wants to avoid any injury, since one crash would make world headlines and regulators would shut it down, even though month-over-month growth is fast. (X Takeover interview)
Flag"Serving" is not defined. Tesla did not give rides, utilization, cars with monitors, or how many are on the road at once.
Why it could be material
Gate D asks whether Tesla will publish rides, fleet, and crash numbers that hold up to scrutiny. A company-stated fleet number is the first step, and it roughly matches the public registry, which is a good sign. Gate B asks whether cheap cars earn money; 300 purpose-built cars in paid service in one city is the first real test of that at any size. A second Cybercab city would make it harder to call this a showcase.
How it ties to the goals
Autonomy · Robotaxi Primary. Small Helps on Gate D (disclosure) and Gate B (paid service at scale). Gate C still hangs on Tesla's sworn NHTSA answers due Oct 30.
Gate G · TSLA Indirect. Expect the Oct 21 call to be where Tesla gives rides and a Dallas date, or does not.
An 8x month with no reported serious crash, an official number that matches the registry, and a second city named. If Dallas starts before year end, the Cybercab is a product, not a demo, and the cheap-car cost edge starts showing up in real service.
Bear case
Cars are not rides. Without trips, utilization, or monitor counts, "serving" could mean parked in a lot and available. NHTSA's sworn answers on how a car with no pedals meets federal rules are still due Oct 30, and one bad incident could pause everything.
JudgmentSmall Helps for Gates B and D. What would move it more: a paid-rides or miles number, a Dallas launch date, or a clean NHTSA outcome.

Starlink keeps stacking: a reported $8B spectrum price and a Venezuela license
The Wall Street Journal reports SpaceX is paying about $8 billion in cash for Grain's 800 MHz spectrum; neither company disclosed the price, and New Street Research put it above Grain's rumored $6 billion target (Fierce Network; Light Reading, Oct 9). Separately, Venezuela's regulator Conatel granted SpaceX's local unit a general authorization and seven Ku-band concessions, making Starlink service legal nationwide (Conatel, Oct 2026). Also, SpaceX's AI unit now goes by "SpaceX Super Intelligence" on X, following the SpaceXSI rename logged Oct 4.
Proposed: No new goal on this board. Starlink is the third mobile step in a week (FCC satellites Oct 6, spectrum Oct 8, now a price), so the case for tracking it as its own line keeps growing. Say the word if you want it added.
